Come To Me, My Love. 2016

Spiral of Love

The rock thrown into water creates circles: first one – at the immediate point of entry, then more circles, around and around…

One evening the melody came into my heart and stayed there. There was longing for a deep love in the melody, and I remembered it. Later on I shared this melody with my dear friend Ruth. She wrote down some words while I was singing: “The winds of time sweep across my mind. My heart seeks to drink from your cup. Come to me, my love”. The song was born. It further evolved into music for whirling when I sang it in the sharing circle at the Dance of Oneness workshop with Banafsheh Sayyad in Esalen and everybody started turning to the song as in sema ceremony. Banafsheh believed that this music should be recorded. My dear friend Sinan in Istanbul once again became a generator and creator of a new production. He arranged music and managed the project. The lyrics got translated into Turkish by Sebahat, my Turkish language teacher. I received them the same day as I arrived in Istanbul for a recording session on July 20, right after the attempt of a military coup.

My dream about having hafiz, a call for prayer-like singing in the music, was miraculously realized by Alper, our recording master, who devotionally and passionately performed it in the recording. My heart is deeply touched by his singing – this goes beyond my wildest imagination!

For those who know the state of joy what starts out as just a dream will at the end become real once the Beloved appears” (Rumi). —-Once again, the Beloved has appeared…

My dream might seem to be big but I want this song, this music to fly to every corner of the world and bring love and peace into the hearts of people who hear these sounds and who are in need of healing.
